EDIT(h)
Founded 2018
EDIT(h) is the perfume house of Moriyama, the company behind Nikko Seal, a red seal ink maker founded in Surugadai, Tokyo in 1905. Sixth-generation head Kentaro Kuzuwa, a former music industry director, noticed that seal ink and perfume share many aromatic materials and turned them into perfumes. It has its own shop in Kagurazaka.

From Tokyo seal ink to perfume in Kagurazaka
EDIT(h) is the perfume brand of Nikko Seal, a red seal ink maker founded in Surugadai, Tokyo, in 1905 and run by the company Moriyama. Its creative director, Kentaro Kuzuwa, is the sixth-generation head of the family business. He worked as a promoter and director at a major record company before joining at his father's request.
The link is the ink itself. Moriyama's kneaded seal ink is scented, and some of the natural materials in it are also used in perfume. The first idea was a room fragrance seal ink; it became a perfume brand instead, which made its debut at Maison et Objet in Paris in January 2018 and went on sale in Japan that spring. The first collection was made in Tokyo with perfumers, graphic designers and the craftsmen who have long worked with Nikko Seal.
Its own shop, EDIT(h) Kagurazaka, is on the ground floor of SunPlace Hondayokocho at 3-2 Kagurazaka, Shinjuku-ku. Elsewhere in Tokyo it is sold at Isetan Shinjuku and at NOSE SHOP in Shibuya, among others. Try Yuzuki first: built on natural Japanese yuzu, it is the scent the house has reworked most, into a room fragrance and into Green Velvet.
- YuzukiNatural Japanese yuzu with woods and flowers, balanced between bitter and sweet.
- Jardin TokyoA hidden Tokyo garden wrapped in green, in petitgrain, lime and herbal musk.
- Souchong JourneySmoky Lapsang Souchong tracing tea's journey across continents, Suzy Le Helley's reworking of the house's Earl Grey.
- KagamigoshiA sweet, herbal, spicy sense of deja vu from a mirror world, Leslie Gautier's reflection of Reminisce.
- Shiso ReverieA dreamy herbal and woody scent of natural shiso, yuzu, fig and fir balsam.
