Greedy Scent Bukchon

A studio near Anguk station where staff guide you through the notes and you leave the same day with a 50 ml bottle. A travel guide says classes run in English. A second studio is in Yeonnam near Hongdae.

Tamburins at Haus Nowhere Dosan

The best known Tamburins flagship, in a building it shares with Gentle Monster and the Nudake dessert cafe. Come for the art installations as much as the perfume.

A half-day perfume route

Bukchon and Samcheong, near Anguk station, hold a workshop and several local brand stores within walking distance. Aromind is closed on Sundays; Greedy Scent opens daily.

  1. Morning: make your own. Book Aromind (19-7 Bukchon-ro 5-gil) or Greedy Scent Bukchon (12-1 Samcheong-ro 4-gil). Allow 1 to 1.5 hours.
  2. Nonfiction Samcheong (84 Bukchon-ro 5-gil). Try the perfumes and hand care.
  3. Tamburins Seoul Samcheong (84 Yulgok-ro 3-gil). Open 11:00 to 20:00.
  4. Granhand Gahoe (61 Bukchon-ro 11-gil), on the hanok street in the photo above. VisitKorea lists 10:00 to 17:30, so don’t leave it too late.

For a second afternoon, Hannam has Nonfiction (242 Itaewon-ro) and Tamburins (238 Itaewon-ro) on the same street.

Practical tips

  • Test on skin, not paper, and wait an hour before you buy.
  • Foreign visitors staying under six months can get the tax back on purchases of 15,000 won or more at shops in the tax refund scheme. Show your passport when you pay. Instant refunds at the till apply to purchases under 1,000,000 won each, up to 5,000,000 won per trip (Visit Seoul). Ask each store if it takes part.
  • Bottles over 100 ml can’t go in carry-on luggage. Pack workshop bottles in your checked bag.
  • Book workshops a day or more ahead, and don’t wear perfume that day.
