Perfume made start to finish in Hadano
KOHSHI is the perfume brand of Kohshi Co., Ltd., which master perfumer Hidenori Matsuno founded in July 2010 after studying at a perfumery school and spending about ten years at fragrance and cosmetics companies. The company is based in Hadano, Kanagawa, in Japan.
Everything from sourcing raw materials to blending, design and manufacturing is done in-house in Hadano, and the company says it creates about 1,500 scents a year. It sells three lines: kilesa, the main line, which aims for 108 scents with about one new release a month; L'Héritage, three scents named after traditional instruments, the drum, the biwa and the sho; and kohshi, nine everyday scents.
It sells through its own pallumer shops. The first, in Daikanyama in Shibuya, Tokyo, is at 14-2 Daikanyama-cho, open daily 11:00 to 19:00 and designed like a small theatre, with a curtain and a chandelier. pallumer Kyoto opened on 22 March 2025 near Karasuma Oike Station and carries more than 80 perfumes; it closes on Wednesdays. In Tokyo it is also sold at @cosme TOKYO. A 50 ml kilesa costs ¥18,700, a 10 ml ¥8,800, and a 50 ml kohshi ¥4,180. Try absinthe fraise first, absinthe with sweet strawberry, a quick test of the house's bolder side.
